Shed robbed on 38th Avenue S.W.

Police were dispatched at 3 p.m. on Sun., Oct. 30 to investigate a burglary on the 5900 block of 38th Avenue S.W. The victim said that on Thur., Oct. 27, he put away lawn tools used for his business into a shed around 10 p.m. When he opened the shed the following day, he noticed that the door had been pried open and property was missing. Officers were not able to locate any evidence of the suspect.

Barroom brawl at Corner Pocket

Police were dispatched to the Corner Pocket, located on the 4300 block of S.W. Alaska St., just before 1 a.m. on Fri., Oct. 28. The bartender reported that a man broke a pool cue, swung it around the bar and threatened that he had a gun. The man was described as 6’1”, 180 lbs, with small dreadlocks and wearing a gray jacket and dark pants. When officers arrived, they found the suspect across the street, on the northeast corner of California Avenue S.W. and S.W. Alaska. The police confronted the man and searched him for a weapon. They found none. The man said he felt threatened and was trying to get out of the bar and simply wanted his laptop bag. A friend of the suspect approached the group with the bag.

Witnesses complained that the man hit them with the pool stick and was aggressive in his comments to them. They also said that he mentioned “Second Amendment rights” and that he was going to get a firearm from his car. The witnesses wanted to pursue charges of assault and threats with a deadly weapon. The bartender did not want to pursue charges—but did ask for the suspect to be removed from the bar. Another witness took a video with his cell phone of the incident. The suspect denied everything but was placed under arrest. He refused to be questioned without his lawyer present. The cue stick was submitted as evidence.

Burglary of building on 1300 block of Alki Avenue

Around 5 p.m. on Thurs., Oct. 27, a homeowner association president of a building located on the 1300 block of Alki Ave. S.W. called 911 to report a burglary. He said that between 9 p.m. on Tues., Oct 25 and 6 a.m. on Wed., Oct. 26, someone had managed to get past an outer security door into an open courtyard on the property. In the middle of the space is an elevator, which opens directly to individual units, acting basically as a front door to each residence. Access to the elevator is obtained by a specific code that only residents know. The suspect trigged a fire switch and the elevator opened in emergency mode. Once inside, however, the suspect was not able to operate the elevator, which still had a number of safeguards. The homeowner association president checked the individual apartment units, but they were undisturbed. He believes that the suspect was not able to get past the elevator. Officers found no evidence or information about the suspect.

Man assaulted and robbed on 35th Avenue S.W.

When police arrived on the scene of a robbery, which occurred on the 8300 block of 35th Avenue S.W. at 8 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 26, the victim was still extremely upset. He had trouble standing still, paced around and sobbed several times. He explained that he had been driving north on 35th Avenue S.W. when his car was hit from behind by a woman driving a white sedan. When each vehicle pulled to the side of the road after the impact, a male passenger from the white sedan approached the victim and struck him several times in the face with a closed fist. The suspect then reached into the car and took the keys out of the ignition. The couple got back into their car and fled north. The victim tried to flag down a number of cars for assistance, but no one stopped. He finally knocked on the door of a nearby resident and asked him to call the police. The victim said he could not describe the woman, man or car but he would recognize them if they could be located.
