Neighbors who aren’t neighborly

The victim and the suspect of an assault reported around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 both live in a building on the 5400 block of Delridge Way SW. The two men do not get along – and have had several confrontations in the past. For the past week, the suspect has been extremely intoxicated everyday and banging on his neighbors’ doors repeatedly. On Thursday evening, the victim was walking his dog, when the suspect threw an empty beer can at him from the third floor of the building and spit at him. The suspect also yelled at the victim and called him names. Police officers spoke to the victim. They tried to contact the suspect, but he did not answer his door. On duty staff at the building said he might be sleeping.

Burglary on 32 Ave SW

A woman residing on the 8800 block of 32 Ave SW called police around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12 to report a burglary. She had left the house around noon and just returned to find the front door unlocked. When she went inside, she noticed the bedroom light was on and items were strewn on the floor. She left and called 911. Officers cleared the house. The found that the suspect entered by shattering the nursery window on the west side of the house, which they estimated caused $1,000 in damage. A rock the size of a softball was lying on the ground nearby. The suspect ransacked the bedroom and the downstairs of the home, taking an Xbox and games. Officers were unable to find any fingerprints.

Attempted burglary on 30 Ave SW

Officers were dispatched to the 6700 block of 30 Ave SW around 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11 to investigate a burglary. As soon as they arrived, the police searched the area for the suspects. Then they spoke to the victim, who had been home alone when two young men started knocking at her door. She did not answer but observed the men through a window. She continued to watch as they moved to the south side of the house, knocking on windows and the back door, before sliding open a bathroom window. She confronted them as they tried to enter the home, and they fled the area. There was no damage – and no evidence was left behind. The victim described the first suspect as being about 5’ 10” and in his early 20s, wearing a black baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and black leather gloves. The second man was the same height and age, had a medium build and was wearing a black jacket, dark jeans and black leather gloves. He had a scab or scar on his cheek. Officers searched the area again for the suspects but were unable to find them.
