Assault of pedestrian

Just after midnight on Tues., June 20, officers were dispatched to investigate an assault at S.W. Stevens Street and 60th Avenue S.W. The victim explained that he had been walking home, when a black car stopped to let him cross the street. The car then drove past, turned around. Five men got out and walked past him. They then rushed him and started hitting him in the head. He could not give a detailed description but said they were teenagers. Eventually they drove away. The man had lacerations on his eye, ear, nose, face and lip. He said that he did not need medical attention. 

Televisions stolen from storage unit

A woman walked into the Southwest Precinct around 4:30 p.m. on Mon., June 19 to report the burglary of her storage unit on the 7100 block of Delridge Way S.W. She said a property manager noticed that the lock was broken on her unit. When she arrived, there were two television sets missing from inside.  She believes someone that she knows is responsible. Police are still investigating the crime.

Paddle boarders assaulted by boater

Around 6 p.m. on Sun., June 18, police received reports from a couple on the 1800 block of Harbor Avenue S.W. The woman explained they had been paddle boarding, when they saw an older white boat coming towards them. The woman started waving at the boat, because she thought it was going to hit her. She said the driver continued to approach her and then would turn around, again and again, which was terrifying to her. The driver was laughing. The male victim was scared for the woman’s safety. As they were leaving, the man approached the boater who was in a silver Toyota truck. The driver stuck his hand out the window and made a motion of pulling a trigger. The couple walked away and called 911, reporting the license plate number of the truck.  
 
Commercial burglary on California Avenue S.W.

Offers were dispatched to a burglary on the 2700 block of California Avenue S.W. around 10:20 p.m. on Sat., June 17. The caller said that earlier in the day, someone had stolen cash and bank deposit slips from the establishment. The man is responsible for the business’ finances—and had the cash and checks on his desk in his office. He said there was video surveillance of the burglary. Facial features of the suspect were difficult to identify in the video. The victim plans to transfer the footage onto a disk and give it to officers to place into evidence. 

Laborer takes tools

A woman residing on the 3000 block of 46th Avenue S.W. called police around 9 a.m. on Fri., June 16 to report a burglary that happened the previous day. She had hired a contractor to work on her home, who had a laborer doing the job. The woman left her home for a while, and when she returned her back door was open and a few of her late husband’s tools were missing. The laborer was also gone, but he called later to admit to taking the tools and said he would return them.
