Women turn violent on SW Barton St.
A man residing in the 1700 block of SW Barton St. called police around 10 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 to say he was involved in an altercation with two women. When officers arrived, a woman stopped them and said that had been involved in a fight with an unknown man who punched her. She appeared intoxicated to the police and had difficulty describing the events.
She eventually changed her mind about speaking to the officers and walked away. The officers then spoke to the man who called them. He said that the woman, who was with a child and another woman in the courtyard of his apartment complex, was on drugs. He started filming the women, because he thought they seemed suspicious. The women became angry at him filming them, and they got involved in a verbal fight with the man.
The women came upstairs and started throwing garbage at the man’s apartment. The man said the woman tried to grab his phone, and that’s when he punched her. The women kicked his door before leaving. Officers searched the area for the women but were unable to find them.
Threats at the dog park
A man called police to report an incident at a dog park around 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9. Officers arrived in the 8800 block of 8 Ave SW to investigate. The caller said that his dog was playing with the suspect’s dog in the off leash area. At one point, the suspect kicked his dog, so the victim asked him not to touch his dog.
The suspect pulled out a knife and threatened to attack. The victim walked away, and the suspect followed him for a distance. Eventually, the suspect was able to get away. Officers checked the area but were not able to find the suspect.
Robbers threaten homeowner at gunpoint
Around noon on Thursday, Dec. 14, officers received a report of a home invasion robbery in the 9400 block of 6 Ave SW. When they arrived on the scene, they found the victim standing in the driveway of his home, where he lives with his wife, three children and two elderly parents. He said that he was in his bathroom upstairs, when he heard a loud boom at the front door. He went to the stairway and saw that his front door had been kicked in.
A suspect was reaching for a handgun, which was laying on the floor. When the man picked up the weapon, he pointed it at the victim and demanded money and gold. The suspect approached him and pressed his head against the kitchen island, while another man entered the house and started rummaging through the upstairs bedrooms. The first suspect took the victim’s wallet and then escorted the man at gunpoint upstairs to the safe, demanding that the victim open it. The victim said he did not know the combination.
The suspects took the safe and a briefcase. They told the man to remain in the closet for five minutes, while they made their getaway. After the time was up, the man left the closet and called the police. The victim said he had $800 stolen from his wallet. He said the safe belonged to his parents and contained $21,000, as well as jewelry and personal documents.
Officers spoke to a neighbor, who saw a light sedan parked south of the house during the robbery. The car drove south on 6 Ave SW and turned east on SW Roxbury. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects of the vehicle.
