Watch for the windowless blue van
On Sept. 7 just before 1 p.m. a man saw an old blue work van with no windows on the sides parked in front of his neighbor’s house. He watched a male with a “fuzzy mustache” loading TVs into the van, made eye contact and the two engaged in a few second stare-down. The suspect jumped into the van and sped off, leaving a 37” Sony flatscreen TV and a class ring with a blue stone sitting in the street.
In-law issues
Two intoxicated brothers showed up at their brother-in-law’s 10th Ave S.W. home after 2 a.m. because they wanted him to fix their car. The brother-in-law said he wasn’t interested in fixing a car at two in the morning on Sept. 11, causing the drunken brothers to get angry and attack him. The victim was pushed to the ground and hit on the shoulder with a hammer before a witness stepped in to break in up. The sloshed brothers drove away before police arrived. The victim said they probably went to a bar in South Park to drink more, but police were unable to find the suspects who live in either Federal Way or SeaTac.
“(Expletive), big dog”
On Sept. 9 a woman was asleep on her living room floor when she heard commotion at her front door. She told police in her “half-awakened state” she thought it was the devil trying to attack her and her son. When she fully-awakened the woman realized it was two men using a three foot metal rod to pry open her front door. Just as the suspects broke through, the victim’s two large dogs came into the living room. The woman heard one suspect say, “(expletive), big dog,” before the men ran away.
The lowest of low
On Sept. 13 a man recovering from a brain injury and bound to a wheelchair was waiting at a bus stop at the corner of 35th Ave. S.W. and S.W. Morgan St. when three male teenagers approached him. One suspect punched him in the face while another brandished a silver knife. The suspects stole his backpack and wallet before running northbound on 35th.
Alcohol and beef jerky: dinner of champions
A man walked into a store on 42nd Ave S.W. around 6 p.m. on Sept. 9 and blatantly started shoving beer, wine and beef jerky into his backpack as a store security officer watched. As the suspect attempted to leave the security guard asked him to stop. The suspect took a back-handed swing and hit the victim across the side of the head. The security guard took him to the ground and, with the help of customers and employees, handcuffed and kept him pinned until police arrived. The suspect was taken to King County jail.
