After a move from California Ave. that took a little more than a week, Petco completed its move to 4100 s.w. Alaska Street overnight from Nov. 1 and opened today at 9 am.
According to Assistant Manager Anne Lemon the new store takes up a little less space than the former 14,000 sq. foot location but still carries 10,000 plus products, employs 19 people and has some upgraded features.

The grooming salon is upgraded, the habitat designs are all new, an improved and larger surveillance system is in place for security and access to the QFC upstairs or the parking garage is available through the elevators.
Petco would be nothing without pets and the store is now carrying such creatures as Baby White Australian Frogs, Fire Belly Toads, and African Emperor Scorpions, plus some new turtles in addition to their usual array of dogs, cats, fish, and birds.
Solid Gold Nutrition Dog Food is now in stock and the new refrigeration cases are stocked with raw, natural foods for pets.
The Grand Opening and ribbon cutting is set for Saturday, Nov. 5. shortly before opening at 9 am. There will be a spinning wheel on site and door prizes awarded for the event. Store mascots Red Ruff (the dog) and Blue Mews (the cat) will be on hand. The first 100 people through the door with a Petco P.A.L.S. card will get a gift card and you can sign up for one prior to the Grand Opening at the store.
The normal hours for the store will be 9 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday, Sunday 10 am to 6 pm.
A Grand Opening Sale will be taking place but the items won't be locked in until Friday morning. The Manager of the West Seattle Petco is Chuck Fluty.
