With landlords like these
Back in November, a couple living on the 5600 block of 21st Ave S.W. told police they had a family emergency in Yakima and had to leave. During that time they failed to pay November and December rent. When they returned on Dec. 12 their landlord had dumped all of their belongings outside, and several items were stolen as a result. Police told the landlord his procedure was awry and he would need to formally evict the tenants through King County before kicking them out. After the landlord moved the couples’ stuff out of the house he hired a team of painters to paint the inside of the house. The couple, now living back in their home (at least until formal eviction), decided to move all of the painting supplies outside. On Dec. 12 the couple left the home for a few hours and, upon their return, noticed not only were all of the painting supplies gone but someone had gone through the house and stolen several more personal belongings. The victims told police they suspect the painters.

Purse snatching
Around midnight on Dec. 14 a woman recognized a group of female acquaintances at a White Center bar and accepted a ride from them to the 9200 block of Delridge Way S.W. The woman told police she saw one of the females ingest an unknown drug, became uncomfortable and got out of the vehicle. One of the females approached her, they argued, and the woman left. The group of aggressors caught back up with her near the intersection of Cambridge and Delridge and one of the suspects punched the victim in the face and stole her purse.

Wreath thief
On Dec. 8 a witness observed a woman acting strangely on the 8400 block of 42nd Ave S.W. She was standing on the porch of a nearby residence and it appeared she put a flyer on the door and then walked “aimlessly” down 42nd and appeared “oblivious to her surroundings.” The witness walked to the victim’s home and she verified her Christmas wreath was missing.

Beloved motor stolen
A man called police on Dec. 8 to report the 350 ci motor from a 1972 Corvette had been stolen from his mom's garage. The victim had been storing the motor in the garage for several years and had slowly been upgrading it with an estimated $7,000 in improvements. He suspects a family member or friend who knows about the motor because it was stored behind a ton of clutter, none of which appeared disturbed or missing. The motor was described as “blue in color with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and Holley Street Dominator manifold.”

Dud box
Someone broke into a S.W. Concord St. home between Dec. 7 and 8 with the sole intention of stealing jewelry. Drawers had been opened and the house gone through, but the victim said the only thing missing from her parent’s house was a light gray/green cotton brocade box that contained a bunch of stickpins and small jewelry items of very little value.
