Last month we featured a new web TV series "The Collectibles"- superheroes meets "The Office". Cast & crew, several from West Seattle & White Center, are heroically spending the 3-day weekend in their Bothel studio (witnessing some snowfall) filming four more of the 10 episodes, soon to air. Lisa Skvarla of Lee's Martial Arts Academy on California Ave. is a real-life black belt. She is associate producer & sassy cast member, "Ultrafemme". Co-writers/directors/producers are Dan Heinrich & Todd Downing. Downing lives in West Seattle and is also with Twelfth Night and their Kenyon Hall productions. His wife Raechelle is the line producer. " love watching this show," she said. "I love reading it. The scripts are great. Our 14 year-old daughter Kayleigh is here helping us out. She's in Twelfth Night now."

Joe Downing (No relation to Todd) portrays superhero "Death-Wish". A former West Seattle resident, Joe is also a martial artist like Skvarla. The youthful 37 year-old said, "My father Kum Sung is a grand master martial artist with a school in New Jersey. My background is mainly taekwando, but I've learned jiu jitsu and some other things. I am proud to say I have never been in a fight. I'm a nice guy. My dad has always wanted to do this, and created his own movie, 'Ninja Way.'"

Actor Conner Marx who portrays "Graviator", a wanna-be superhero, also works with West Seattle's Stephanie Cristalli Photography.

Superhero "Super Star" Brian Sutherland, a star in "All My Presidents" filmed on North Admiral recently. He is a former West Seattle and Ballard resident. "I love playing Super Star," he said. "Super Star is basically the boss. He takes naps, and is a dim-witted character all about love and making everything work, even if it's all falling apart. Lisa and I trained together at the Seattle acting school. Many of us trained there, four years, sometimes seven days a week. It's nice we are all still working together."

Conor Hogan was born and raised in White Center, Chief Sealth graduate of '98 and attended South Seattle Community College. He has acted with Todd in Twelfth Nigh Productions for 10 years, and appeared in Fiddler on the Roof, Bye Bye Birdie and others. In the Collectibles is best boy, the director and producer's right hand."You're constantly moving fast, fast, fast," he said.
