Cars were driving extra slowly as the snow came down in large flakes and covered the road near Fauntleroy Way SW and SW Alaska Street, Alki, and other West Seattle locations around 11:45 am, Sunday, Jan. 15. Taking advantage of the day off, kids, dogs, and even some grown-ups took the occasion to romp. As predicted, or perhaps not, snow showers began blanketing parts of West Seattle around 11:30am on Sunday Jan. 15 after some early morning dustings around the area.
Large flakes took over from a mixture of rain and snow as the temperature hovered around the freezing mark but only apparently in the northern section of West Seattle as it quickly began sticking to the road near the top of the West Seattle freeway entrance. Cars could be seen sliding, and spinning out as they tried to negotiate the newly slick streets.
At least one two car accident was seen near the intersection of Raymond and Fauntleroy Way. sw.
Cars were reported spinning out on Admiral Way, about an inch of snow had fallen in the Alki area by 1:30 pm, but White Center was only lightly affected by 1:45 pm.

Travelling south on Fauntleroy Way s.w around noon however showed that the snow was not uniformly falling as the roads were essentially clear. That condition may not last however as forecasters are calling for snow showers overnight and below freezing temperatures.

Metro adds this:
As of 12:00 Noon, King County Metro Transit is operating all service via designated snow routes in all areas until further notice.
If your bus does not have a pre-planned snow route, it will operate its regular route, however service may be delayed due to weather and road conditions. Transit customers are advised to wait for buses at posted bus stops on flat portions of cleared arterials or at major transfer points, such as park-and-ride lots and transit centers where there may be multiple service options.
It is not possible to know when a bus will arrive at a specific location, or to provide service updates at the individual trip or stop level.
Use regularly published timetables as a guide, check Metro’s online snow page for route updates, be aware of conditions in your area and be prepared for delays.
Visit Metro's Snow & Ice page and your route's online timetable and map for additional information.
