The White Center Spring Gala and Silent Auction May 5 will feature a "small scale 'Taste of White Center' buffet. The event at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center 4408 Delridge Way s.w. starts at 6:30pm
The MC for the evening is Sarah Rudinoff, a Stranger Genius Award recipient.
Entertainment will include a performance by aerialist Jenna Lutton, a Capoeira exhibition from Capoeira Malês, crowd mover DJ Dr. Lehl, and we may have a surprise or two up our sleeve.
Big-ticket auction items include a pontoon boat for the avid fly fisherman and a ride-a-long with White Center’s own storefront deputy BJ Myers.
Featured food items include house made hors d’oeuvres and small plates from Uncle Mike’s Barbeque, the Salvadorean Bakery, and El Paisano will be provided.
50/50 raffle with cash prize and a full bar are part of the event.
Also on hand will be Big Al Hi-Yu Bru Pale Ale available for purchase, proceeds of which will be donated to a local charity.
It's all in support of one of if not the oldest community celebrations in the State of Washington, July Jubilee Days set for July 14 - 21.
Tickets are $35 and can be bought through Brown Paper Tickets. Tickets can also be purchased at Company, Full Tilt Ice Cream, and Proletariat Pizza in White Center.
You can also support July Jubilee Days with a small cash donation at indiegogo.com
The organizers have explained that the cost of the community celebration, which includes a carnival, a remarkable close up fireworks show at Steve Cox Park, a golf tournament, a garden tour, a parade, a street fair, and a 'show and shine' car exhibition is in excess of $50,000. They produce the entire event without any major corporate sponsors and depend on the community for support.
