Party in the Parking Lot – A Tailgater’s Guide

Fall brings a chill to the air, the onset of comfort food cravings, and football season! NFL, college, and high school football fans alike switch gears this time of year, trading their shorts and swimwear for caps and sweaters, and don their team colors for the highly anticipated tailgate.
We’re fortunate to be living in Husky, Cougar, and Seahawk territory. Our enthusiastic sports town offers many opportunities for Parties in the Parking Lot! In our family, Michigan football is practically a religion. Each year we make our pilgrimage from Seattle to "The Big House" to join other die hard Wolverine fans, and so that my husband can pay homage to his alma mater. Whether you're a fan of the game or not, anyone can be a fan of the tailgate!
At TheBrownLounge.com this time of year, we pay homage to Fabulous Fried Chicken. Our unique approach to this classic tailgate treat is to sear the seasoned batter onto the chicken during frying, then stove top bake it to ensure tender juicy meat every time. It can be served hot or at room temperature. Whether you prefer to go to the big game, or stay cozy at home watching the big screen, this boneless, skinless fried chicken will score big with your friends!
With any party, food is a key ingredient to success. But for a great Party in the Parking Lot we talked to sports event expert, Geoff Walker, Principle at WalkerRun Events. Geoff recommends showing your team spirit with banners and team colors. He suggests using folding tables, chairs and even area rugs to carve out your special spot in the lot! He says, “Keep food simple and hearty, include a few fun activities to keep things moving, and be sure to clean up when the party is over.” Find more of Geoff Walker’s tips in his guest post on TheBrownLounge.com this week.
Here's to your next tailgate!
Cheers - Holly
