Home alone
Right around noon on Nov. 15, a woman was sleeping in her upstairs bedroom on the 6300 block of 36th Ave S.W. when she woke with a start to loud banging. Working her way out of the layers of sleep, the woman initially thought she was hearing a passing truck or nearby construction, then realized it was someone banging loudly on her front door. She activated her home alarm and decided to confront the situation. Just as she started walking down the stairs someone broke one of her front windows. She yelled out that she was calling the police and moments later heard a vehicle speed away. When police arrived, the victim told police she had a firearm in the house for just this kind of situation.
Witnessed, but not caught
Shortly after 2 p.m. on Nov. 16, a woman living on 8100 block of 31st Ave S.W. witnessed two suspicious people pull up to a neighbor’s house in a silver BMW with Washington plates. A male, described as white in his 20’s, 6 foot tall, 170 pounds with a scruffy beard and dark hair, exited the driver seat while a female stayed in the car and lit up a cigarette. The neighbor watched the suspect walk around the house until he disappeared behind some bushes at which time she called the police non-emergency line. Around that time the female in the getaway car noticed the neighbor watching, got into the driver’s seat and drove away westbound on S.W. Elmgrove St. By the time police arrived the male suspect was also gone, along with a Macbook Pro Laptop and a box of coins.
Open house scouting
On the afternoon of Nov. 15, a Realtor® called police to report a vacant home on the 9300 block of 45th Ave S.W. had been burglarized. It appeared someone broke the lockbox of the front door, went directly to a bedroom and stole a 32 inch Panasonic flat screen television. Discussing potential suspects with police, the realtor remembered “two suspicious white women in their mid 30’s” who came to an open house earlier in the month and would have known exactly where the TV was located.
South Park melee
On Nov. 19 a man was approached by woman on 14th Ave S. in South Park who asked him for a cigarette. He refused and the woman told him she would “kick his (butt).” The man feared she was readying an attack, and started jabbing at her with his umbrella. Suddenly, a male ran across the street and punched the man in the face, knocking him back through a doorway just as the female suspect attempted to rip his backpack from his arms. The victim was able to win the tug-of-war and the suspects eventually ran off.
