The building site has a long history of development. It was once the site for a gas station but that was torn down in the late 1990's and was an empty lot for some time. Plans for it included use by the cancelled Seattle Monorail project (which coincidentally also caused the Herald offices at 3500 SW Alaska Street to move in 2005) but when that ended, development began on the site in 2006. Those plans were by developer Michael Mastro who ran afoul of Washington State law for bankruptcy fraud and in 2011 fled the United States. They were arrested in France in October of this year. The new owners are a Joint venture managed by Randolph Street Realty Capita. They purchased the property at the end of April 2012 and the project was completed on November 19th 2012.
