Of all the choices … Jägermeister?
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Dec. 2, three unknown suspects shattered the front door of a Westwood Village liquor store, climbed in through the broken glass and stole three bottles of Jägermeister liquor, an adult version of black licorice. The suspects were gone by the time police arrived, but surveillance footage showed a vehicle pulling up to the store with the suspects shining their headlights on the front doors. Three suspects (gender unknown) broke the door and two entered. They appeared to make a straight line for the Jägermeister and then fled. One bottle of the viscous brown sludge didn’t make it out and was found shattered on the business floor.
Junction business hit again
For the second time in a thirty day period, a restaurant/bar on the 4700 block of California Ave S.W. was broken into … likely by the same criminal. The owner locked the place up and left by 3:20 a.m. on Dec. 2, and received a call from his alarm company only minutes later that the system had been tripped. He turned around and returned, then saw the same vehicle he saw in the last burglary parked a half-block away from his business. The car was running and a man jumped in before the driver took off. The suspect tried to get in through the same vent he did last time, but was unable to get past a wooden board put up to repair his last caper. Instead, it appeared he made a hole in the front door and crawled inside, stealing between $800 and $1,000 in cash.
Valuables stolen as neighbor watches
The neighbor of an elderly victim living on 13th Ave S.W. watched around 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 30 (Friday) as three young males walked onto the property and knocked on the front door. No one answered and the neighbor watched the men walk to the side yard, disappear, and reappear minutes later to stash something near a shed in the backyard. The neighbor, in his 60s, walked over to confront the suspects at that time. One of them told him “not to take his accusations any further,” according to the police report, then left. When the 90-year-old victim returned home he discovered a suitcase containing a hearing aid, personal papers and $6,000 in cash was missing. The suitcase was found stashed next to the shed, but the money was gone. Suspect #1 was described as a Filipino male, 17 to 19 years old, 5 feet 8 inches and heavy set with scruffy facial hair and a flat-billed baseball cap. Suspect #2 was described as a black male, same age, 5 feet 11 inches with a thin build, short hair, dark coat and black denim jeans. Suspect #3 was described as a Pacific Islander male, same age, 6 feet tall with a thin build, ear-length black hair and wearing Bermuda shorts with yellow on one side and red on the other.
