Calley Maine, 37, the daughter of the Corner Pocket owner, Jan Maine, passed away there suddenly Jan. 12 at the Junction in West Seattle. She lived with her life-partner, Jeremy Parmenter, and their son, Cooper, 14, in Tukwila.
Calley Maine, the daughter of Jan Maine who owns of the Corner Pocket at the Alaska Junction, died there suddenly Saturday night, Jan. 12 . She was 37. Calley was the mother of 14 year-old Cooper. Cooper was raised by Calley and her life-partner, Jeremy Parmenter, all of Tukwila. Jeremy, 36, is a union carpenter.

She had a seizure, went into cardiac arrest, and died at the bar, her brother, Michael Maine, who works there, told the West Seattle Herald. According to the Real-Time911 website, aid vehicles arrived at the scene, at 4302 Alaska St SW, at about 8:00 p.m.
The funeral took place Friday, Jan. 18, at 1:00 p.m. at the Howden-Kennedy Funeral Home on Alaska St. It was filled, with over 50 people spread around outside. A memorial followed, at the Corner Pocket. Family members said, "It was packed. A lot of sharing between individuals took place with a lot of tears."
Calley's father, Michael Maine, who started the Corner Pocket and other area businesses, passed away May 2, 2011 at age 62. He battled Polycystic Kidney Disease and had received a kidney transplant in 2008. A Marine who served in Vietnam, he received many accommodations including the Purple Heart.
According to family members, Calley had a similar kidney disease.
"She was always ready to cheer people up," a member of the Parmenter family told the West Seattle Herald. "If you were in a bad mood she would poke at you to find out why you were upset. She was a fixer. She was fun, and always the center of attention. She helped out at the bar when needed, but was more of a guest there than an employee in recent years."
