Get off of my cloud
A husband and wife were driving along in late January when the woman pulled out her iPhone and realized her contacts had been erased, and replaced with names she did not know. She called Apple support and they told her that the changes must have been made to her laptop, which is connected to the phone through a data “cloud.” When the couple returned to their 46th Ave. S.W. home they discovered the woman’s MacBook Pro laptop was stolen, along with her husband’s iPad. The woman called a (redacted) name on the new contact list to inquire if they knew anything about the theft. The male on the other end was of no help.
Brutal beating; no leads
Police and paramedics were called to an apartment on the 5600 block of California Ave. S.W. on Jan. 25 after a man came to visit his friend and found him severely beaten. Both of the victim’s eyes were nearly swollen shut and he had significant facial bruising along with defensive cuts and bruises to his arms. There was dried blood in several rooms of the apartment. The victim told police he had absolutely no recollection of being beaten or who was involved. The friend who initially called 911 told police he came over because the victim had said someone broke in and robbed him. Police gathered photographs of a boot tread marking left in a pool of blood, and gathered three bottles of vodka for fingerprint analysis.
Fruitless effort
Unknown suspects broke into a completely empty home on the 7700 block of 11th Ave. S.W. on Jan. 24 that is currently being remodeled. They broke a back bedroom window, crawled in, turned on a few lights, and the burglary alarm went off. A neighbor called police and investigating officers arrived shortly to find the house empty (of everything, including suspects). The homeowner said nothing was stolen.
