Trouble walking
On April 8 a man walked into a business on the 9400 block of Delridge Way S.W., stuck a can of fertilizer under his sweatshirt, walked to the back of the store to push it further down into his pants, and then tried to walk out the front door unnoticed. His plan failed as an employee confronted the man and asked him to return the product. The man denied any wrongdoing and a scuffle broke out between the two. The employee was able to pull the suspect’s backpack , sweatshirt and hat off in the melee, and the suspect retaliated by biting the victim’s arm (not breaking the skin) before fleeing west on S.W. Cambridge St. Responding officers, based on the information gathered on their suspect, believe it is the same man who recently threatened to create a bomb to blow up the McDonald’s in Westwood Village. An area check for the suspect was unsuccessful, but the victim in this case said she could identify him from a photo montage “easily.”
Not today
On April 3 a young man was walking near Chief Sealth High School with his girlfriend when a vehicle with four other youngsters pulled up and asked if they wanted to by some “kush” (which is slang for marijuana). They declined the offer and continued along their way until one of the young men stepped out of the car and demanded the male victim’s necklace. After the victim refused, the suspect punched him in the chest and attempted (unsuccessfully) to rip away the necklace. The victim responded with a swift right to the suspect’s face. The robber gave up at that point, getting back into his vehicle and slinking away.
Picky thief
Someone broke into a 42nd Ave. S.W. home on the afternoon of April 7 and stole a large bag filled with $200 in coins and three watches. The unknown suspect forwent many expensive electronics, fancy guitars, and mounds of jewelry surrounding the three watches that were taken. It appeared the thief shattered a rear glass door to gain entry. Responding officers dusted the crime scene for fingerprints.
In dire need of keys
An unknown suspect broke into the shop room of an apartment complex on the 2400 block of S.W. Webster St. on April 2. Since he or she did not have a key, they used some sort of tool to pry the door open. Once inside, they stole a key duplication machine worth $470.
Wrong level
In the early afternoon on April 5, someone kicked in a 14th Ave. S.W. home’s basement window. Once inside, the crook apparently realized the basement was nearly empty and left without venturing to the upper levels.
