White Center Jubilee Days celebrates 90 years as a community event

Operating since 1923 Jubilee Days has entertained the people of the South Seattle area with music, food, and sellers booths. This year is no different…… except in recent years the car show which used to be held at Alki has been incorporated into the street fair and is expected to be even bigger this year. Also this year, a display of the technological prowess that has put the northwest on the map will showcase the talents of young scientists and engineers in the “Space Elevator Race”. This new event has been organized by the High Tekerz Robotics (FIRST 3574) Program and will take place at 11:00 am on Sunday the 21st at the location occupied by the Car Show on Saturday near the south stage.

To kick off the weekend celebration, on Wednesday the 17th the Davis Shows Carnival- a long time Jubilee Days fixture at Steve Cox Park- will open its doors at 4pm and at dusk that evening the White Center Jubilee Days fireworks show will signal the approach of the street fair on Saturday and Sunday.

With two stages Jubilee Days has entertainment for the whole family. The south or “Family Stage” is hosted by Mr. Mario and will include acts like TaPo & Apatoeroau Tahitian Dance Compnay, Roving Reptiles, and Kids Karoke to name a few. On the main “North Stage” located at 17th & Roxbury, will feature local rock stalwarts the Delridge Boys and hometown rappers GNU Deal. Also on the bill are blues act Howlin Hound Dog, retro soul purveyors Roeman & the Whereabouts, Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute band “Stevie Ray Guns” and much more. On Saturday the family stage opens at 11:00 am and the main stage starts at 12:00.

The Jubilee Days Parade will start on Sunday at 11:30 am on 16th Ave at 112th Street and move north into White Center. There will be competing drill teams, classic and custom cars, and a whole lot more. Set out your chairs on 16th Ave SW, relax and enjoy the parade.

17th Ave will be filled with vendors and purveyors of all shapes and sizes and open to the public at 10:00 am on both days (July 20, 21).
