Repo gone awry
Two repossession company employees approached a home on the 3500 block of S.W. 98th St. on Aug. 24 because the silver 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix parked out front was marked for a take back. As an employee positioned his tow truck to haul the delinquent machine away, a woman emerged from her home. A female employee said “Hi” to the woman, but she was in no mood for conversation as she hurriedly jumped into the Grand Prix, fired it up and drove directly into the woman. The victim rolled onto the hood as the suspect took off. She drove an estimated 20 feet with the victim on her hood until slamming on the breaks, sliding the woman off the car and onto the street. The suspect fled while the victim, luckily, only suffered minor abrasions. Police took down the repo order information, including the suspect’s details.
“Walk with us, this is a stick up”
On Aug. 20 a man and woman were talking at the intersection of California and Ferry Ave. around midnight when two men approached them and said, “Walk with us, this is stick up.” The suspects pulled out handguns and put them into the victims’ backs, directing them behind an apartment complex where they demanded the pairs’ wallets and cell phones. Also stolen were four tickets to PAX Prime, a video game conference held in Seattle over Labor Day weekend. As the suspects walked away they told their victims to look the other direction.
Weed for the squirrels
This one is far from our ‘hood, but just so worth a mention. The Bellingham Herald reported on Aug. 28 that 36-year-old David Wayne Jordan pulled up to the Whatcom County Jail, stepped out of his truck, pulled back his bow and shot an arrow with marijuana and other drugs taped to the shaft into jail property. Police believe he meant to shoot the arrow into the inmate fresh-air exercise area (possibly to help a friend pass the time?), but misfired and his arrow ended up on the jail’s roof. A slammer employee watched the whole thing unfold and jotted down Jordan’s license plate number. When police paid him a visit, Jordan claimed he was simply hunting for squirrels. “He had no explanation as to why squirrel hunting requires attaching marijuana to an arrow,” Whatcom County Sherrif Bill Elfo told the Herald.
