The West Seattle Time Bank, an idea in which you exchange your own time for that of others for needed services or help is continuing to grow and gain popularity.
The next WSTB Orientation Meeting is : Wed., September 25, 2013 a the WS Senior Center - 4217 SW Oregon St.
6:30-7:00pm potluck/social time
7:00-8:00pm Orientation or member meeting
Chair of the WSTB Tamsen Spengler said, "At the members meeting we meet each other, have existing members assist new members with posting their services and setting-up their accounts. At the August meeting new members said they really appreciated the support and felt so welcomed. Seeing the membership grow convinces me this is a program our neighborhoods are embracing because a feeling of "community" is needed again and esp. during this difficult economic time."
The exchanges can be diverse or direct.
After the first meeting a new service exchange was setup, "goat milking" for teaching "how to make cheese".
" I love the Sustainable West Seattle members and the Puget Ridge Neighborhood members. We also have a member who will "mend or alter those ragged clothes you've been wearing to work". I may have to take her up on that one. I'd have a new wardrobe," said Spengler.
