FIRST DAY OF AUTUMN TO BE BLUSTERY ACROSS WESTERN WASHINGTON...
In what might feel like a repeat from last Sunday, another storm will arrive on Sunday according to the latest predictions by the National Weather Service. Coincidentally it is predicted to be going strong right around the same time the Seahawks game gets underway at Century Link Field at 1:30pm. Appropriately, Summer comes to an end and fall officially starts at 1:44 pm.
Since it is likely we will see power outages, due to high winds (gusts up to 35mph) if you can, get outdoor furniture stowed and other items that might get blown around, securely put away. This isn't a major storm but does call for some caution.
Here's the Special Weather Statement:
A STRONG BUT FAST MOVING PACIFIC STORM WILL BRING GUSTY WINDS AND BRIEF LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL TO WESTERN WASHINGTON SUNDAY...THE FIRST DAY OF AUTUMN.
THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE FORECAST TO OCCUR ALONG THE COAST AND IN THE NORTH INTERIOR FROM WHIDBEY ISLAND NORTHWARD. WINDS OF 20 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH ARE EXPECTED IN THESE AREAS SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. BLUSTERY WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED ELSEWHERE.
DECIDUOUS TREES STILL HAVE THEIR LEAVES AND WILL CATCH THE WIND. SO THIS WILL BE THE FIRST GOOD WEATHER SYSTEM OF THE SEASON AND WILL LIKELY PRUNE SOME TREE BRANCHES. LOCAL POWER OUTAGES OR INTERRUPTIONS ARE POSSIBLE.
ANTICIPATED RAIN AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ALONG THE COAST AND IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH AMOUNTS OF LESS THAN AN INCH ELSEWHERE.
MOUNTAIN SNOW LEVELS BY SUNDAY NIGHT WILL RANGE BETWEEN 5000 AND 6000 FEET. THOSE IN THE MOUNTAINS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR AN APPARENT SUDDEN CHANGE IN THE WEATHER.
MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE AS THIS STORM APPROACHES.
