Dangerous start to the day
On Sept. 23 – a Monday morning around 6:25 a.m. – a woman was waiting for her bus at intersection of 46th Ave. S.W. and S.W. Admiral Way when she noticed a man walk past her. Suddenly, he was back and produced a black handgun that he pointed at her chest. The suspect demanded the victim’s “stuff” and she handed over her laptop bag (full of books) and purse containing home keys and cash. The suspect, described as wearing all black with a mask covering most of his face, instructed the victim not to call the police because he knew where she lived (turns out the victim’s ID card with her address was on her person and not stolen). After the suspect ran off the victim waited five minutes before running to a nearby 7-11 to call 911. She suffered a twisted ankle running to call for help.
Two too many
In less than 24 hours, two men lost their lives while traveling the Alaskan Way Viaduct on motorcycles. The first incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 when a man riding a Triumph motorcycle northbound struck an eastside guard rail. The collision ejected him off the Viaduct to Railroad Avenue below. Police believe speed may have been a factor. Around 2:50 p.m. the next day a 52-year-old man traveling northbound on a 500 cc Aprilia motor scooter struck a guard rail and was ejected near the Seneca exit. Both men died at the scene.
You have the wrong idea
On the evening of Sept. 18 a man was out briskly walking for exercise in South Park – repeating the same route he had been using for several weeks. On this particular workout, near the intersection of 12th Ave. S. and S. Henderson St., the exerciser was approached by a male in his 20s who walked up to the man and said, “Hey, I want to know why you’re walking up and down the street in from of my family’s house all of the time? I almost slotted your ass.” The victim replied that he was simply out getting exercise. Apparently not buying it, the suspect “slowly” pulled out a machete or large black knife from his waist and raised it in a threatening manner. The victim backed off, called off the workout and called police once he got home. No arrest was made at the time of the report.
