Balloon causes power outage near Morgan Junction
Mon, 10/07/2013
A power outage is impacting a number of businesses and homes near the Seattle City Light power facility at 42nd Ave. S.W. and S.W. Morgan St. in West Seattle, where power lines are apparently down (as of 4 p.m. on Oct. 7). The cause is still under investigation but Seattle Police and City Light on the scene said it was caused by a mylar balloon.
First reports of outages started coming in during the 2 o’clock hour.
The full extent of the outage is unknown as SCL’s online map does not automatically track outages in this area that run on an older wire distribution system, according to SCL Spokesman Scott Thomsen.
