“You forgot my (expletive) McChicken!”
Shortly after 10 p.m. on Oct. 1 an employee at a fast food restaurant in Westwood Village was working the counter when a woman in her 40’s walked in with one of the restaurant’s bags and yelled, “You forgot my (expletive) McChicken!” The employee had not seen the woman come in as a customer and asked if she had been through the drive through. “Do I look like I have a (expletive) car you (expletive) (expletive)!” she yelled back. At that point the suspect threw a cup of soda at the victim’s face and lunged over the counter to punch her. The victim’s fellow employees came to her aid and the suspect fled towards a nearby grocery store where she pulled out pepper spray and threatened more people, but did not assault anyone. By the time police arrived, she had fled the scene.
Bomb rambling causes ferry disruption
For Vashon/Fauntleroy/Southworth ferry riders who experienced significant delays on Oct. 5, the reason behind them occurred on the south end of Vashon after reports started coming in of a man threatening to bomb the Point Defiance to Talequah route. Around 11:15 a.m. that day, officials had to shut down the ferry route after a witness heard a 48-year-old Vashon resident “rambling about having explosives and wanting to detonate (them) after a particular car disembarked (from) the boat,” according to the King County Sheriff’s Office. More calls from witnesses started flooding 911 as the man was also seen carrying a broom and “talking about killing all the rats.” Officials detained the man and inspected the ferry and terminals, both of which were deemed safe. The suspect was booked into King County Jail. The Talequah terminal closure caused delays on the Vashon-Fauntleroy route as more people than usual were forced to the northern option.
Hit the road Jack (not quite)
On Sept. 26 a man was unsuccessful in lifting four bottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey from a grocery store on the 4700 block of 42nd Ave. S.W. It was a little after 8 p.m. when the heavy-set male wearing a jacket with “Security” scrawled across the back walked into the store, grabbed a shopping cart and put his backpack in the basket. He made a straight line for the liquor aisle where he loaded up four bottles into his backpack. A manager (who was watching the entire time) approached, so the suspect picked up the backpack and tried to make a quick exit. The manager was able to momentarily obstruct him at the exit, but the suspect pushed him out of the way. The manager yanked the backpack from the thief and he ran off towards California Ave. S.W., ditching his “Security” jacket as he ran. The $24.99 bottles of Jack were taken back to their rightful shelf until a paying customer decides to offer relocation services.
