It's crosstown rival week in West Seattle sports, starting off with the boys basketball game between Chief Sealth and West Seattle on Tuesday.
The action in the West Seattle High School gymnasium starts at 7:30 p.m.
Evergreen, meanwhile, is at home playing Highline at 7 p.m. Wednesday and at Kennedy Catholic for a 7:45 p.m. game Friday.
Chief Sealth is at home playing Ingraham at 8 p.m. that day as West Seattle hosts Nathan Hale.
Seattle Lutheran visits Bear Creek for a 6 p.m. game Friday.
Shorewood Christian visits Christian Faith Center for a 7 p.m. game Tuesday and travels to Taholah at the same time Friday.
Girls basketball
Chief Sealth will go to West Seattle for a 7:30 p.m. crosstown battle Wednesday as Evergreen travels to Highline.
Friday's schedule has Ingraham at Chief Sealth and Nathan Hale at West Seattle at 6:15 p.m. with Evergreen at Kennedy Catholic at the same starting time.
The Seattle Lutheran girls are home against Chief Leschi Tuesday and at Bear Creek at 6 p.m. Friday.
Shorewood Christian's schedule takes it to Christian Faith Center on Tuesday and to Taholah on Friday, with times to be announced.
Wrestling
West Seattle visits Ingraham for a 6:30 p.m. game Tuesday before entertaining crosstown rival Chief Sealth at the same time Thursday.
Evergreen will host Renton and Tyee for a 7 p.m. match Thursday and will participate in the Highline School District Tournament at Mount Rainier High School on Saturday.
Gymnastics
Evergreen entertains Lindbergh and Hazen for a 7 p.m. meet Tuesday and goes to Renton with Lindbergh at the same time Thursday.
Chief Sealth and West Seattle go to Nathan Hale along with Ingraham for 4 p.m. action Friday.
Swimming
Evergreen hosts co-op teammates Tyee and Highline for a 3 p.m. meet Thursday, with West Seattle going to Chief Sealth for 3:30 p.m. action Friday.
Pros
Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are ready and waiting in New Jersey for their second Super Bowl appearance ever after flying into Newark on Sunday.
Denver will provide the competition in the Big Game that is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2 at Met Life Stadium.
The action will be shown in the Puget Sound area on KCPQ Channel 13 and nationwide on the Fox network.
Thunderbirds
Seattle visits Everett for a 7:30 p.m. match at the Comcast Arena this coming Friday and drops in on Portland for 7 p.m. action against the Winterhawks on Saturday.
Colleges
Men's basketball
The University of Washington visits Washington State University for 3 p.m. action at Friel Court in Pullman on Saturday with Pac-12 cable carrying the action live.
Seattle University visits Idaho in nearby Moscow at 7 p.m. that day, with Gonzaga going to Santa Clara at 8 p.m. Wednesday and to San Francisco at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Both Gonzaga games will be shown on the ROOT sports cable network.
Seattle Pacific is at home at Royal Brougham Pavilion for 7 p.m. action against Saint Martins of Lacey on Friday before entertaining Western Oregon for 4 p.m. homecoming action Saturday.
Women's basketball
Friday the University of Washington Huskies will visit UCLA for an 8 p.m game before going to USC for 11 a.m. action next Sunday with the Pac-12 cable network carrying both games.
Washington State University is at USC with a 6 p.m. start on Friday and at UCLA at noon Sunday. Pac-12 will show Friday's game.
Seattle University is at home against Idaho at 2 p.m. Saturday, with Gonzaga hosting Santa Clara at 6 p.m. Thursday and San Francisco at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Seattle Pacific University goes to Burnaby, B.C. to play Simon Fraser at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and stops by in Bellingham to play Western Washington University at 5:15 p.m. Saturday.
