UPDATE Feb. 15
West Seattle's newest fitness club, Anytime Fitness, delayed a bit by equipment deliveries and sign off from the city now plans to be open for business by the middle of next week according to the owners. They've completed the vast majority of the work inside and have taken delivery and had installed an impressive array of exercise equipment. They'll make the opening next week a soft open with the actual Grand Opening event set for early to mid March. They plan on inviting neighborhood businesses to "come in and set up a little booth in a 'Welcome to the neighborhood' event for the members," said Andrew Saldana,
"We want to say thank you for allowing us to be part of the neighborhood."
He reflected on the building's history, "I do remember the family bringing us here to Royal Fork when I was six years old so now it's come full circle. I like the history here."
They anticipate growing past their current 800 members to 1500 and will be offering free trial memberships with full 24 hour access as well as discounted memberships to get the business off to a strong start in the new location.

Anytime Fitness, with two Seattle franchise locations owned by brothers Daniel, Jacob, & Andrew Saldana of West Seattle, are hoping to get their new, remodeled facility open by Feb. 8. They also own and operate a location in Capitol Hill.
Located in the former Blockbuster Video location on California Ave. and S.W. College Street in the Admiral District it represents a major step up for the business in several ways.
It's far larger at 6500 square feet than their old location at Charlestown Street S.W. meaning they can provide more space for equipment, classes and services, and the equipment they are bringing in is up to date and high tech. The new space will also truly be open to members 24 hours a day.
To make that happen the company had to work out a very secure card base pass key system complete with floor sensors and cameras to make sure only members can enter. During normal business hours staff will be on hand but after hours, members can still come in and get a good workout in a secure setting.
The new gear coming includes three 47 inch flat panel televisions in the cardio area (seven total in house) but if that seems like too few, you should know that all six new treadmills will all be equipped with built in televisions plus, full internet access.
They will also permit you to plug in your smart phone with the appropriate app and have your workout progress tracked. In that same area you'll find elliptical trainers and a number of new generation Stair-master® machines.
In a separate room is a dance, jazzercise, zumba, spin, yoga, or other group exercise room. What sets it apart is its autonomous setup. Outside the room a touch screen will allow a leader or just a member to call up a specific program then a giant projection screen will show the appropriate content. Spin class for one at 2 am? Not a problem.
Circuit training machines, free weights, climbing ropes (the ceiling is 22 feet high), a tanning bed, private showers, and offices comprise the rest of the space. The brothers are considering contracting with a physical therapist, (there's room for that too) and will have 20 people including trainers on staff.
The staff will have a loft lounge, accessed via pull down ladder or rope where they can meet, relax or have lunch.
The parking lot will remain a Diamond pay lot but Andrew Saldana said, "We've ordered custom Anytime Fitness removable window decals, which members can purchase for one-time fee. $3 for 1 car or $5 for 2. The decal will ensure our members are free from getting ticketed by Diamond Parking."
The increased space means they can take on more members too with room right now for about 650 to 700 more. To contact Anytime Fitness, call them at (206) 306-6676.
