Shorewood Christian slammed its way into the semifinals of the Northwest 1B Tri-District boys basketball tournament, defeating Grace Academy by a 47-34 score Tuesday.

The win lifted the West Seattle-based team to within one win of next week's state regional tournament action, with the first crack at the berth coming in a 3 p.m. Thursday semifinal against Tulalip Heritage in the Mount Vernon Christian gymnasium.

The winner advances to Saturday's 6 p.m. Tri-District championship game at Mount Vernon Christian, while the loser gets dumped into a loser-out, winner-to-regionals game at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Mount Vernon Christian.

Friday's winner plays for third and fourth place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, also at Mount Vernon Christian.
Jordan King led the way to victory in Tuesday's game played at Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines, swishing in 17 points.

Stan Domingo was next with 11 points.

The Shorewood Christian girls team, meanwhile, dropped into the loser's bracket with a 48-37 loss at the Muckleshoot Tribal School on Tuesday.

Shorewood Christian must go to Tulalip Heritage for 6:30 p.m. do-or-die action Thursday.

Thursday's winner must win again in a 7:30 p.m. Friday game at Mount Vernon Christian, with Friday's winner playing for third and fourth at 4:15 p.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon Christian.

Nicole Jones led Shorewood Christian with 17 points in Tuesday's loss and Natalie Jones threw in 13.
West Seattle also finds itself on the brink after losing a Sea-King District 2 3A game to Mercer Island by a 52-49 score Tuesday.

The Wildcats must win an 8:15 p.m. Friday game against Liberty at Bellevue Community College.
Friday's winner plays in a winner-to-regionals, loser-out game at 4:45 p.m. Saturday at Bellevue Community College.

Lydia Giomi led West Seattle with 20 points in Tuesday's game against the Islanders played at Ingraham High School.

The Evergreen High School girls basketball team from White Center had its season end with a narrow 49-46 loss to Renton in 2A West Central District action at Curtis High School this past Monday.

Stephanie Herrera and Caroline Tupa tallied 13 points apiece to lead the Wolverines.
