Volunteers Urgently Needed to Advocate for Long-Term Care Residents
Volunteers are needed in the Burien, Tukwila, Des Moines, SeaTac and West Seattle communities. Informational Seminars “The Role of the Long Term Care Ombudsman Volunteer” will be April 26, 10 a.m. at Providence Mount St. Vincent, West Seattle and April 30, 5 p.m. in Federal Way. A four-day Training/Certification Program takes place May 7, 8, 28 & 29, 8-5 p.m. daily, in Federal Way. A volunteer ombudsman makes visits to long-term care facilities to meet with residents and their families, providing information on resident rights and working to resolve problems on behalf of residents. Volunteers must attend training to get state certified and then devote 4 hours/week to visit and monitor assigned facilities.
