Full Tilt Ice Cream is best known around Seattle as at coolest local chain of ice cream shops featuring not only outstanding and quirky ice cream flavors but beer and pinball. But sometimes owner Justin Cline goes to 11 pm and rocks out his stores with some of the best local music talent the region has to offer.

On Friday April 25 his White Center store was popping with two shows from the McCall, Idaho band Bouncing Souls and local Seattle act Cumulus.

Bouncing Souls founder Gregory Attonito and his wife Shanti Wintergate played an afternoon family show as their Children’s Theater Project called Play Date. Attonito described Play Date as a “quieter, mellower, lower volume version (of Bouncing Souls) that empowers kids to realize they are creators and can make music and do amazing things."

Later in the evening they put on their adult hats and entertained a beer drinking- ice cream eating crowd as the Pop Punk Bouncing Souls.

Bouncing Souls were formed in New Jersey twenty five years ago and has toured actively ever since. Now based out of McCall, Idaho the band hasn’t stopped their touring bent. Among their many accomplishments was a show at the famed Austin City Limits in 2013 and later this year the Bouncing Souls will play Lollapalooza and Kidpalooza- a family friendly version of Lollapalooza- where Play Date will rock the younger crowd.

Bouncing Souls and Play Date will grace Full Tilt with two more shows next week. On Monday Greg and Shanti will be performing at Full Tilts Columbia City store and on Tuesday they’ll be at the Ballard store. Both shows will start at 4:30 pm.

Opening up for Bouncing Souls last was a solo performance by Cumulus front person Alexandra Niedzialkowski. With just a guitar and her voice Niedzialkowski crooned to the crowd with her soft soulful voice. Normally backed up by another guitar, bass, and drums Niedzialkowski seemed in her element. Her haunting voice had the entire shop transfixed.

When asked later about the show Alexandra explained “Tonight I played by myself because it was more of a stripped down environment but usually it’s the full band. It’s kinda fun to get back into the environment of like playing the songs how they were written in my mind and right onto the guitar you know."

Niedzialkowski’s influences growing up were Olympia’s K-Records stalwarts Mt. Erie and Mira. “Beat Happening was a big influence that let me know that you can start your own band and play music."

Niedzialkowski and Cumulus will perform at Neumos on the 17th of May and at the Vera Project on May 19th.
