Architect Chris Luthi was baking bagels in the brick oven he designed for the Barton Street P-Patch on Saturday, May 25. This was the opening firing of the oven for the season and the P-Patchers hope to do an event each month throughout the summer.
Chris Luthi kicked off the season at the Barton P Patch at the corner of Barton Street S.W. and 36th Ave. S.W. on Saturday May 25, cooking bagels (for the first time) and pizza. People trickled in throughout the day. The event started around 10 am.
The dough, similar to pizza dough, was boiled in a pot over a camp stove then baked in the brick oven that Luthi designed and the P-Patch members assembled last year.
"Were going to try and do this once a month or we hope as we're in the experimenting process. We will be cooking different kinds of food such as bagels, bread, and pizza, " said Luthi
