Break in on Delridge
Police received a call from a resident on the 5200 block of Delridge WY S.W. on June 30 just after midnight that she could see someone breaking into her neighbor’s home. The suspect was described as a black male in his mid to late 20’s wearing an army camo jacket and light pants. The caller could also see that the suspect had his pit bull tethered to a bicycle nearby.
Police arrived in time to find the suspect in the house which was actually a separate mother-in-law unit to another nearby residence. The suspect explained to police that the unit had caught fire in May and that he had been living there at the time and was just returning to grab his stuff. The unit showed obvious signs of smoke and fire damage. Police contacted the owner of the residence, who was not on the scene at the time, and learned that he didn’t know the suspect and wasn’t aware of anyone coming to take things from the home.
The suspect was transported down to the South West Precinct and put into custody. The pit bull that was leashed to the bicycle (which was a female bicycle officers observed) was picked up by King County Animal Control. The home owner agreed to call police at a later date if they found anything to be missing.
Robbery on Barton
On July 1 just before 11 p.m. police received a call from a bystander about a robbery that was taking place on the street at 37th Ave. S.W. and S.W. Barton St. When police arrived they couldn’t find the victim or suspects at the location that they were first given but eventually made contact with the victim in Roxhill Park at 29 Ave. S.W. and S.W. Barton St.
The victim told the police that two teenage black males that whom he didn’t know had jumped him shortly after they all got off the bus at a nearby stop. The two suspects followed the victim from the stop and onto a nearby trail where they began punching and kicking the victim for his cell phone. During the robbery the victim pleaded with suspects to take his older Samsung phone instead of his newer iPhone which he had been listening to music with. This is only inspired the suspects to take both phones with them.
The victim has seen the suspects riding the same bus with him many times and told police that he could definitely identify them if he saw them again. The suspects remain at large.
