West Seattle officers assist in arrest
On July 17 a teller at a bank in the 1200 block of 5 Ave. called police to report an attempted robbery by a homeless man. The suspect passed a note to the teller that read “Homeless, hungry, I need your money, give it to me now”. Officers from the southwest precinct were asked to assist in the investigation.

When officers arrived at the scene the teller and a witness described the suspect as a black male in his 40’s or 50’s with dred locks and a dirty jeans and sneakers. The suspect left the building after being told by the teller “we don’t do that”.

Bike officers were able to locate the suspect on 4 Ave and Seneca. This time the suspect was holding a sign that read “homeless could you spare some lill money?”. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody for investigation of bank robbery.

Commercial trucks broken into
At a business on the 70 block of S. Chicago St. 3 commercial trucks were broken into on July 21. A worker for the company arrived at the scene to find that there was hole in the chain link fence around the perimeter of the building and that batteries and welding wire had been taken from them.

When police arrived at the scene they noted that there appeared to be pieces of rubber hosing near the trucks, indicating that the robbers attempted to syphon gasoline from the vehicles as well. Due to the fact that the business had no security cameras and that police were unable to recover any finger prints the suspects remain at large.
