Ambush by man with shotgun
Just after midnight on July 25 police received multiple calls from the 1000 block of S. Director St. that a man was being held at gunpoint by another man with a shotgun. A later call would update police with the identities of the suspect and victim as well as inform them of a gunshot being heard.

When police arrived at the scene with a S.W.A.T. unit they immediately made contact with the victim. The victim told police that as he was walking to his truck parked on the 1000 block of S. Henderson St. the suspect jumped out of some nearby bushes with a shotgun. Pointing the gun at the victim the suspect took him back to his backyard (the suspect lived only a few hundred feet away). After talking to the victim the suspect released him and fired a “warning shot” into the air.

During the interview process police figured out that the victim was lying about his name. When police finally got the victim’s real name they discovered that there were multiple warrants out for his arrest and he was arrested at the scene.

When police made contact with the suspect he claimed that the victim had been regularly coming around the neighborhood and alleged that he was involved with a nearby house where narcotics and prostitution are known to go on. On this particular night he noticed a group of individuals walking around the street near that house and decided to scare them away. According to the suspect he had called 911 prior to hiding in the bush and popping out at the victim. The suspect explained that he was telling the victim to stay away and made sure to point out that when he fired the shot from his shotgun the victim had already left his yard.

The suspect refused to surrender his shotgun to police at this time. Before leaving the scene authorities informed the suspect that they would return soon to arrest him once they had filed charges and secured a warrant.

Unknown man assaulted on Barton St.
In the early hours of July 25 police were called to the 2600 block of S.W. Barton St. to investigate a call of a man having been robbed on the street. The witness who called 911 was driving past the bus stop when she noticed the assault going on.

By the time police arrived the Seattle Fire Department was on the scene treating the victim for any injuries he might have incurred. When police attempted to interview the victim he was unable to speak, even though he was conscious, and did not have wallet or any form of ID on his person.

According to the witness she saw 4 black males attack the victim by punching him and shoving him into a nearby bush. Once the victim was in the bush the suspects began punching him and taking his clothes off. Once his pants were down around his knees 2 of the suspects stole his shoes and ran off with them. The victim was later taken to Highline Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

The suspects are described as 4 black males, one with long black hair down to his shorts; two others were wearing a baseball cap and a fisherman’s cap. The witness claimed to only be able to identify 3 of the 4 suspects for sure. The suspects remain at large.
