Amanda Kay Helmick announces a run for City Council District 1

Amanda Kay Helmick is now in the running for City Council District 1. She will run against the defacto incumbent Tom Rasmussen (a West Seattle resident), local transportation and political activist Chas Redmond and David Ishii.
The new district, created last year under Charter Amendment 19 set up boundaries and new districts as well as changing the representation formula to seven reps based on district and two at large members.
Helmick is currently the chair of the Westwood-Roxhill-Arbor Heights Community Council which she co-founded and is a member of the West Seattle Transit Coalition. She serves on the City Neighborhood Council representing Delridge.
