Pepper spray carjacking
On Nov. 17 police were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. to the scene of a carjacking that had occurred a couple of hours prior on the 6500 block of Sylvan WY S.W. The victim was waiting for the officers on the sidewalk near the scene of the crime.
The victim, a 29 year old male, explained to the officers that he had met up with a 21-year-old female who he only knows by her street name (that information was redacted in the police report) when she pepper sprayed him in the face. After he was sprayed another suspect, a male that the victim had never met, came on the scene and pulled the victim out of the car and took his keys from him. The victim ran away and returned a short time later to find that the suspects and his car were gone.
The female suspect is described as being a black female with a medium build, standing approximately 5’6 with short hair and a tattoo on the side of her neck. No description for the male suspect was provided. The suspects remain at large.
After school robbery
Police were called to a school in West Seattle on Nov. 14 about a robbery that had occurred the day before involving multiple students after school. The principal of the school contacted authorities after the victim of the robbery sent a friend to the nurse’s office to get him some ice for his knee. The nurse found this suspicious and alerted the principal who brought both boys to his office to find out what was going on.
The victim, a ninth grade student, explained that he had arranged to meet with another student (the suspect) at around 3 p.m. at 42 Ave. S.W. and S.W. Lander St. the day before to sell a Faragamo belt for $350 dollars. The victim went to the meeting place with two other friends and met up with the suspect who also had brought a few friends along.
Once the victim arrived one of the suspect’s friends grabbed and held him from behind while the suspect punched him in the stomach. The victim’s friends ran away as soon as he was grabbed. The suspect took out the victim’s wallet and took the cash inside and the belt before pushing the victim to the ground and leaving the scene.
Before police were contacted the principal had brought the suspect to his office to confront him about the allegations, which the suspect denied. The suspect claimed to have been playing basketball all afternoon. During this meeting with the principal and after claiming his innocence the suspect ran out the door and away from school grounds. This prompted the principal to get the police involved.
The victim later explained that the cash in his wallet had come from selling his old iPhone and that with the money from selling the belt he had planned to buy a new one. The victim told police he hadn’t reported the theft or told his parents about it because he was afraid of retaliation as well as angering his family. The suspect was placed on emergency expulsion from the school and his mother has been contacted by both the police and the principal.
