Stabbing on bus on Highland Park WY S.W.
Late in the night on Sept. 6 police received calls from a Metro bus stopped at 2 Ave. S.W. / Highland Park WY S.W. about two passengers that were fighting. Minutes later, around 11:50 p.m., calls from that same bus began coming in reporting that one of the brawling passengers had been stabbed.
When officers arrived they found one subject sitting in his seat with a knife and sheath clipped to his belt. He was ordered off the bus and to surrender; which he did without incident. Once the officers boarded the bus they found the other subject lying in the fetal position near the back door. A pool of blood was forming around his body. This man was taken by ambulance to Harbor View Medical Center where it was discovered that he had sustained a single stab wound to the shoulder.
According to witnesses the suspect had gotten on board the bus already deep in a fit of anger. He began going from seat to seat yelling at other passengers in an attempt to instigate a fight. When the suspect reached the victim they began fighting with each other, with the victim at one point getting the upper hand and punching the suspect 5-6 times in the face. None of the witnesses were sure if this was before or after the stabbing.
After entering the suspect’s knife and backpack into evidence he was escorted to the King County Jail for booking. At the KCJ the suspect was denied entry until further evaluations were done on him. Once complete officers again brought him back to the KCJ where he was finally booked. The victim was reported as being in healthy and stable condition at the time of the report.
Garage robbery
A homeowner returned from vacation to find an unwelcome surprise on Sep. 5 at his home on the 8100 block of 34 Ave. S.W. The home had been broken into and the garage ransacked.
The homeowner had been on vacation since Aug.28 and his neighbor informed him that he noticed the door was kicked in around Sep.1. Deciding not to contact police, and since he had no contact information for the homeowner, the neighbor decided to wait until the victim returned from vacation to say anything. The victim’s house has been on sale for a few weeks now and most of his belongings had already been moved out.
Sometime during the day on Sep. 1 the suspect had gone to the side alley where the garage entrance is located and kicked in the door. After breaking-in the suspect managed to make off with tools and two carjacks that were still in the garage.
The homeowner was not able to report the break-in until late in the day on Sep.5. Responding officers managed to pull one print off the door knob and enter it into evidence. The suspect was not seen by any of the neighbors so no description was available. The suspect remains at large.
