Barnette joins Kela in Rangers' pen
Chief Sealth graduate Keone Kela has been joined by Thomas Jefferson graduate Tony Barnette in the bullpen for the Texas Rangers.
Barnette spent the past six seasons pitching in Japan after being drafted originally by the Arizona Diamondbacks and advancing as far as their Class AAA team -- the Reno Aces.
Barnette was offered a two-year, $3.5 million deal over the winter to come back from Japan.
Kela is entering his second season of Major League Baseball and was the Rangers' eighth inning setup man as a rookie.
Barnette will be used in middle relief.
The Rangers open their season at home against the Seattle Mariners on Monday.
