Wedding reception assault
Police responded to a report of an assault around 10:30 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 27. When officers arrived at the 6000 block of 16 Ave. S.W., the victim explained she was working as a security officer at a wedding reception, when a man attacked her.
The victim had been making the rounds, letting the 100 guests know that it was time to leave the premises, because the center would be closing soon. She said the suspect appeared out of nowhere, grabbed her by the throat and threw her on the floor. She hit her head but did not lose consciousness. The suspect got on top of her and continued to choke her until other members in the party pulled him away.
The victim left the center and went outside to call 911. Officers noted that her neck was swollen. She complained of a pain to the back of her head. Seattle Fire Department’s Engine 11 responded to the scene and treated her injuries.
Two males were holding the suspect down. They told officers that they were trying to calm the suspect down and refused to release him. The officers had to pull the men away and placed one man, who they said was drunk and belligerent, into custody.
Public urination case gets serious
Police received an unusual call around 10 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 24. A man living on the 2500 block of 57th Ave. S.W. was attacked when he asked two suspects to stop urinating on his garage. Upon arriving, officers noted that the victim’s right eye was swollen shut and purple. His nose was also bruised.
The victim was waiting for someone to come home when he heard a funny sound coming from outside. Through his cracked garage door, he could see a male urinating. He went outside to confront the suspect, yelling to get his attention. The suspect denied urinating on the garage door. Soon, the two men were arguing and the suspect punched the homeowner in the face.
The victim described the suspect as a 6’2” tall, 180-pound male with dark hair, who was about 25 years old. During the fight, the victim said he fell to the ground and the suspect kicked him in the head and the ribs. Then, a second suspect—a white male about 25 years old, with shaggy red—hair joined in. A third male, who the victim described as shorter and Iranian, was also present.
Eventually, neighbors came out to assist the victim and ran after the suspects. The victim said he had never seen the suspects in the area before. He went to the hospital and medical staff said his eye socket and nose were probably broken.
Fight erupts at Yen Wor
Police responded to a report of an assault outside of the Yen Wor bar, located on the 2300 block of California Ave. S.W., at 1 a.m. on Tues., Aug. 23. The caller said that a man and women were arguing. Another caller, who later turned out to be the victim, told 911 several times, “If officers don't get here, I'm going to take care of it.”
When officers arrived, they found the victim to be visibly intoxicated. He had a difficult time balancing, and the police struggled to gather any information from him.
The man just kept repeating, “The suspects took off that way. If you don't find them, I will!”
Officers noticed a small amount of blood was coming from an open injury on the victim’s left ear. An abrasion on his elbow was also bleeding.
A witness said the victim had been inside the bar, drinking and dancing. Two women were dancing near him. Later, the two women sat down at a table.
The suspect entered the bar and sat briefly with the women. Then he got up, picked up a chair and struck the victim on the head, knocking him to the ground.
The suspect stood over the victim, kicking him once and threatening him with the chair. The witness said no words had been exchanged between the two of the prior to the assault.
The victim said he did not know the suspect. The two women had already left the bar. The witness said that the suspect left the scene in a red Chevy Malibu, but she was not able to read the license plates.
The Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene and tried to examine the victim’s injuries, but he declined any medical attention. Officers searched the area for a suspect and his vehicle but could not find him.
