Murray Basin CSO Update: Majority of road restoration done at 48th SW; Beach Drive fix is next
Wed, 11/02/2016
information from King County
King County’s contractor recently completed the majority of road restoration in the intersection of 48th Ave S.W., Beach Dr. S.W., and Lincoln Park Way S.W. Last week, the contractor began restoring Beach Dr. S.W. This work is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.
The road will be restored in phases and narrowed to one lane during work hours. Flaggers will maintain two-way traffic. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes and variable road conditions, including loose gravel, pavement cuts, uneven surfaces, and steel plates. Flaggers directing traffic may ask cyclists to walk their bikes on Beach Dr. S.W. during work hours. Cyclists should use extreme caution when traveling near the project area.
Upcoming activities
This week, the contractor will place wood and steel forms for the public stairway between Lincoln Park Way S.W. and Beach Dr. S.W. Once the forms are in place, the contractor will begin pouring concrete for the stairs. Crews will also begin landscaping on the facility building roof as early as this week. The green roof was designed to capture stormwater and improve energy efficiency at the facility.
What to expect:
· Work to occur on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
· Beach Dr. S.W. narrowed to one lane during work hours
· Increased congestion and truck traffic
· Variable road conditions and traffic delays of up to 10 minutes on Beach Dr. S.W.
