Assault on California Ave SW
A victim of an assault at 11 p.m. on Monday, March 27 came to the SW Precinct the following morning to report the crime. He explained that he had been visiting a friend at his apartment, located on the 3700 block of California Ave SW, when the suspect started punching and kicking him out of nowhere. A witness called 911, and the Seattle Fire Department treated him. The victim said the police arrived as well, but there was no record of the incident in the system.
Stealing from the pharmacy
Officers investigated a burglary at a pharmacy located on the 2300 block of 42 Ave SW around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 25. The pharmacist was helping a customer, when she noticed an unknown man turn down aisles that are closed to the public. He left holding two bottles and told her to “shut up.” She said he was tall, skinny, in his early 20s and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. He joined a second suspect outside the pharmacy door. They sounded the alarm on the emergency exit, while fleeing on foot. The pharmacist believes the man entered through the consultation window.
Burglary on High Point Dr. SW
A home located on the 5900 block of High Point Dr. SW was burglarized around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 25. The victim left her home for about 20 minutes to shop for supplies for a birthday party she was hosting. When she returned, she noticed the back door was open and several items were missing, including two televisions and an Xbox.
Robbery at security gate
Around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24, officers were dispatched to the intersection of 25th Ave SW and SW Barton St. to investigate a robbery. They noted that the victim and his roommate appeared intoxicated. The victim said he was fumbling around for his keys after being dropped off at the security gate of his apartment complex, when two males approached and tried to take his bag. The victim fought back but was unsuccessful and the robbers took his bag, running north to a waiting white, Honda Civic. The victim was unable to call 911 since his phone was in the satchel, along with money and his driver’s license. He waited until his roommate returned home, and then notified the authorities. He did not appear to have any injuries.
Burglar hides under marina
Around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, police were dispatched to the 1300 block of SW Spokane St. to investigate a burglary. While en route, they received an update that the suspect had jumped into the Duwamish River in an attempt to escape. The victim had not seen the suspect come out of the water. The victim owns a boathouse in the marina and had heard that someone suspicious was kayaking around his place. He arrived to scope out the situation. He saw the suspect sitting on the couch in another boathouse eating food – and knew that the man did not have permission to be there. When the victim tried to stop the crime, the suspect sprayed him in the face with mace and hit him. The victim eventually regained composure and fought back. During the scuffle, the suspect fell in the water. The victim tried to help him out, but the suspect started swimming east. The police finally recovered the suspect from under the marina, where he had been hiding for an hour. He was booked in jail.
