McCullough stands out as freshman
West Seattle High School graduate Morgan McCullough enjoyed a banner season as a freshman at the University of Oregon.
McCullough started at second base for the Ducks' baseball team, batting .271 (46-for-170) in 53 total games that included 51 starts.
McCullough led the team with eight stolen bases and also had six doubles, four triples and one home run. He walked 27 times, racked up 21 RBI and scored 24 runs.
Hellinger wraps up senior season
West Seattle graduate Sam Hellinger finished his senior season at Gonzaga University with a 4-3 record and a 3.79 earned run average.
Hellinger threw in 23 games for the Bulldogs, including one start, and had two saves.
Hellinger racked up 25 strikeouts in 40.1 innings of work and walked only nine.
Hellinger is a former draft pick of the Seattle Mariners who is eligible again for the Major League Baseball draft that starts Monday.
Brett back on disabled list
Highline graduate Ryan Brett finds himself back on the seven-day disabled list after playing in four games at second base for the Durham Bulls of the Tampa Bay Rays organization.
Brett batted .200 (3-for-15) with one double and one RBI while he was active for the Class AAA International League club.
Kela now 2-1 for Rangers
Chief Sealth graduate Keone Kela now has a 2-1 record for the Texas Rangers to go with a 3.74 ERA.
The right-hander reliever has worked 21.2 innings in 21 games, striking out 27 and walking 11.
Barnette also with Texas
The Texas Rangers' bullpen also has right-handed Thomas Jefferson graduate Tony Barnette as a member.
Barnette has a 1-1 record to go with a 5.96 ERA this season, also playing in 21 games.
Barnette has thrown 22.2 innings for the Rangers, striking out 23 opposing batters and walking seven.
Conger hitting .255 for Reno
Federal Way native Hank Conger is batting .255 (26-for-102) as a catcher for the Reno Aces of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League, who just paid a visit to Tacoma last week.
The Aces are an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Conger has four doubles and three home runs for Reno in 31 games played. Conger also has 12 runs scored, 26 RBI and 12 walks.
