Update Aug. 10
The two men involved in the stabbing incident on Aug. 8 near the base of Gatewood Hill on California Ave SW are in very different conditions today. The victim, Courtney John Heeter is in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Harborview Hospital. The suspect Ryan Joshua Cox is in custody at the Seattle Correctional facility after being booked there following his release from the hospital. The details of the assault are still unclear and the case is still under active investigation.

Shortly before 10pm on Tuesday Aug. 8 two men in their 30's, according to witnesses and police scanner traffic, got into an altercation that became a stabbing sending both men to Harborview Medical Center. Witnesses on the scene said a homeless man, 39 years old according to police scanner, got into a fight with another man, who was in a Range Rover SUV near the intersection of California Ave SW and SW Orchard Street. The SUV driver was slashed across his chest and into his shoulder according to eye witnesses and the homeless man suffered wounds to the thigh that were self inflicted according to police. The SUV driver was unconscious and was prepped on the scene by EMT's from the Seattle Fire Dept. and taken directly to surgery.
According to scanner traffic both patients were in stable condition although the primary victim was in critical condition when admitted.
Media reports and witnesses in the neighborhood say that the suspect is named Ryan Cox, who has previously been arrested for homophobic graffiti he painted and other incidents.
