Construction site burglarized on Delridge
At 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of Delridge Way SW. A construction site supervisor met the police and explained that when he arrived at 7:30 a.m. the lock securing the chain-link fence had been cut. The rear door for the trailer on the site was forced open. The building contained power tools and hand tools. A lock, which had been cut, was on the ground near the trailer. While there was a security camera pointed at the construction site, officers were not able to see anything due to condensation on the lens. Officers photographed the scene for evidence. They were not able to find any fingerprints, because workers were already on the site.
Burglar hits on Avalon Way
At 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 16, officers received a report of a burglary in the 3000 block of SW Avalon Way. The doors of the building were kicked in. The caller said the only thing he noticed missing was a power supply cord worth $400. There were five doors in the building that had been tampered with and damaged.
Building burglarized on W Marginal Way
Around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 15, officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of W Marginal Way SW to investigate a commercial burglary. The caller was an employee at the business and wanted to report damage and the theft of copper piping. He said the exterior door to the building had been pried open. The building has been vacant since 2009. Officers searched the building and did not find any suspects or anything else damaged. There were no fingerprints.
Attempted burglary at flower shop
Officers were driving near the intersection of SW Alaska St. and California Ave SW around 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, when a man waved them down. He said that a man had attempted to break into his flower shop on 42 Ave SW, and he tried to run out to identify the suspect. The victim also lives in the shop, so he heard the suspect trying to break in. He believes that the suspect was intoxicated. The victim said the door would cost about $100 to repair. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the suspect’s description.
