Two wrongs make it right?

Ok! You ask for a loan with low interest from the city, but they need your deed well that doesn't work because the bank holds the deed. So that stops loans. But it gets better.

A neighbor runs a buy and sell business (something stolen) and he takes in homeless who draw welfare, they drink and wander the neighborhood. The city wants him out and they relocate the men by giving them money. And this cost the city $70,000. They put a lien on the property but he wants to sell so they are forgiving the $70,000.

Indian casinos prosper with special treatment

Last week I called the editor of the West Seattle Herald in order to give him his quarterly ration of good natured "how can this absurdity be" harassment.

Usually it's a one-topic harangue, but this time I had two. About half way into my pitch, Jack says, "Okay, so write it up." Now I ain't no writer, mind you, but I do know how to affect change. Words do provoke thoughts and thoughts do provoke actions!

Absurdity No.

Now it's up to the school board

Less than a week after his unpopular proposal to merge two distinct school programs and close Roxhill Elementary was voted down by the Seattle School Board, superintendent Raj Manhas announced he'd step down next summer as the district's leader.

"I believe I have fulfilled my responsibilities as superintendent and have accomplished much during my tenure..." said Manhas at a press conference last week. "The work I intended to do has been done."

Manhas said the decision was personal and was not a result of being forced out.

Orchard Ravine trail will connect neighborhoods

Parks Superintendent Ken Bounds decided that a trail that traverses the Orchard Street Ravine and connects to the surrounding neighborhoods would be better than a loop trail that stays within the ravine.

The trail will connect the 38th Avenue Southwest street end at the higher northern side of the ravine to Orchard Street at the lower southern side.

City park planners previously recommended a loop trail contained within the bottom of the ravine.
