Federal Way Police still on the lookout for shooting suspect

Federal Way police continue to search for a missing suspect in a string of shootings that spanned several blocks of the Steel Lake Park area.

The department has issued a plea to the citizens of Federal Way to help them locate Christopher Diandre Hendricks, 22, a black male who witnesses reported brandishing a firearm near the scene.

Hendricks is a large man, 6' 0" tall and weighing 300 pounds, and Federal Way police consider him armed and dangerous.

The suspect is wanted in connection with a Federal Way Assault 1 case that took place around 8 p.m.

On August 9, at approximately 3:41 p.m., Federal Way Police Officers responded to the 30500 block of 4th Avenue Southwest to a medical emergency.

When Police and Fire personnel arrived they discovered a two-and-a-half-month-old, male victim unconscious and not breathing.

South King Fire and Rescue Paramedics immediately initiated life support and were able to obtain a heartbeat.

The victim, a two-and-a-half-month-old infant, was transported via helicopter to Children's Hospital in Seattle.

The infant showed no outward signs of trauma.

Puget Sound Blood Center accepts more than just thank-yous from visitors at ribbon-cutting ceremony

Giving blood will be easier for Federal Way residents, thanks to the opening of the Puget Sound Blood Center that will serve as a stationary headquarters for donations.

Puget Sound Blood Center opened a new donor center in Federal Way last Thursday, August 13.

The new donor center joins ten other donor centers currently operated by Puget Sound Blood Center throughout Western Washington.

Hawks soaring into 2007 season

For the upcoming Federal Way Hawks Junior Football League season, almost all the classifications finished the 2006 season with promise, lending close predictions for the upcoming 2007 season.

"We had a lot of teams do well," said 89ers head coach Spencer Swanson.

Three teams -- Midgets, Pee Wees, 89ers - made the playoffs, with the Midgets losing in the championship.

So, who this year looks like the best promise of a team being a champion for the Hawks when this year is said and done?

Annie Bobs began her final journey on 07/14/07. She was 88. She is survived by her children Jim, Jackie and Dick (Sandy), and beloved grandchildren Tyler and Lindsay. Thanks to Mission Healthcare for three years of loving care.

The daughter of two college professors, she attended the University of Colorado on a scholarship, joined Alpha Phi sorority, and earned a degree in Economics in 1941. In 1942, she implemented the federal hot lunch program for the Seattle School District, and married her college sweetheart, Dixon W Benster.

A long-time Highline-area resident and local contractor, Gerry operated Clark Ditching Co. for many years. He married his childhood sweetheart, Rose Mary, in Seattle's Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Dec. 6, 1941. They enjoyed the next 65 years together raising a family and loving grandchildren.

Reflecting on his life, he often said, "What an amazing time to be alive."

He leaves behind his wife, Rose Mary, sister Agnes and brother Calvin. His first child was Pamela, followed by Germaine Jr.

A celebration of Andy's life was held on Thursday, August 16, 2007, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Sumner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at any Washington Mutual Bank branch in care of the Andy Parker Fund.
