Seattle's Mudhoney will celebrate White Center style

Namesake Ice Cream flavor will get a musical kick off

The little ice cream company that could, White Center's Full Tilt, has done it again.

The company, located at 9629 16th Ave SW in White Center (though they have five locations now) known for its unusual flavors, chose to name their newest Mudhoney after the legendary and seminal grunge band.

They created some flavors using West Seattle's Shipwreck Honey single pollen sourced honey as an ingredient, along with some cinnamon and fudge.

Owner Justin Cline (and co-owner Ann Magyar) came up with idea to get the band involved. Cline has a background in band promotion and booking having worked years ago at the famous club, The Offramp in downtown Seattle. Through a connection they managed to get the band to approve the final flavor and asked if they'd play at the store.

Surprisingly enough they said yes.

So the tiny, 50 person capacity store will close at 5pm on Wed. Dec. 11 to make the space ready for a live performance by the band, set to bring a heaping helping of powerful rock at 8pm, following the ice cream's introduction to the crowd at 7pm.

SLIDESHOW: Girls Basketball - Chief Sealth (50) @ Foster (31) 12-6-2013

By Jeremy Martin

TUKWILA-- Opposites clashed Friday night at Foster High School when the up tempo style of Chief Sealth met the deliberate, methodical attack of the Lady Bulldogs.

With such differences colliding, one team was bound to eventually dictate the flow the game, and by halftime Sealth held a 13 point lead and enough hard fought momentum to carry it to a 50-31 victory.

Seahawks do-it-all guard O’Shae Walker was a menace on both ends of the court, dropping a game high 14 points and nabbing seven steals on the defensive end.

Her ability to fly down the court made it difficult for Foster to successfully initiate full court pressure on the Seahawks (1-1).

“That’s what she does. She’s one of our sleepers. She’s going to come out this season and make a big difference,” Sealth head coach Katie Jo Maris said.

But Foster (0-1) had a difference maker of it’s own.

Eunica Serafica, the Bulldogs' tallest player at 5-foot, 8-inches, proved to be a handful both as a ball handler and as a dominating presence under the rim.

Local film group shoots scenes in Ballard and Crown Hill

Ballard and Crown Hill were popular filming areas for a local film group, and now they are releasing the footage.

Seattle film team, RAWSTOCK Media Group, will be debuting their series-film “Everyday Is A Journey” on YouTube throughout the week of their film festival, Klausterfokken, which occurs on Dec. 11 at the Northwest Film Forum.

The locations the filmmakers chose to use were Carkeek Park, Ballard Commons Park and Taj Yoga Studio.

“With many of us living on the north end it just made sense to shoot scenes where it was convenient,” said RAWSTOCK producer and actor, Dylan Noebels.

The film is a satirical and dark comedy that tells a crime-drama story about small time con artists and yoga aficionados mixed up in kidnapping, extortion and murder. The film is littered with symbolic irony and humor.

SLIDESHOW Boys Basketball - Chief Sealth (66) @ Foster (62) 12-6-13

By Jeremy Martin

TUKWILA-Trailing by one with 45 seconds remaining in Friday night’s boy’s basketball match up between Chief Sealth and Foster, the Seahawk’s Ahmed Mohamed took a pass in the lane, pivoted towards the rim and knocked in the hoop plus the harm.

The junior forward’s free throw would be nullified by a lane violation, the fifth of the game for Sealth, but his bucket would give the Seahawks the lead and that would prove to be all the team would need in squeaking out a 66-62 victory over a scrappy and athletic Bulldogs (0-2) squad.

“We’re pleased with pulling it out during our first game of the year,” Chief Sealth head coach Colin Slingsby said.

Mohamed would finish the game with 16 points and six rebounds. Leeandre Dickerson also netted 16 while grabbing 12 boards and Alloney Burris put up 10 points adding six rebounds and three assists.

Despite the dramatic ending, the rest of the evening proved to be the poster child for an early season game as both squads struggled with turnovers, fouls and with consistently running its offense.
