Quail Park Memory Care Residences hold open house; Facility will open Aug. 1

Quail Park Memory Care Residences held an Open House on July 12 to introduce the new facility to the community. Located at 4515 41st Ave. SW the facility is part of the Living Care Lifestyles with senior communities in Washington, Oregon, California and Texas. Quail Park will open on Aug. 1 with 18 residents and has a capacity of 66.

The facility has 46,300 square feet on four levels. The three residential levels each have their own central common area. Forty-five rooms have been built for dementia and Alzheimer's residents. There are studio, one bedroom and two bedroom units.

Not all the bargains are in booths during Summerfest; Junction merchants offering major deals during the event

Many people come to festivals in search of a deal on items that are only there for a few days. But not all the great deals are from event vendors. Level 3 sex offender now living in Admiral District

In an effort to keep you informed, and in our constant attempts to reduce future victimization, we want to let you know about one level 3 registered sex offender that has recently moved into a Southwest Precinct neighborhood.

 

  • Peter Schulte, a 69 year-old white male, is a level 3 registered sex offender who has recently moved to the 2700 block of California Ave SW in Seattle and is no longer under Department of Corrections supervision.

Four story 26 unit efficiency apartment building proposed for 9000 block of 35th SW; Parking for six vehicles

The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections has announced an Administrative Design Review for a 4-story, 26 small efficiency dwelling unit apartment building above general sales and service at 9037 35th Avenue SW. Parking for 6 vehicles proposed. Existing building wil be demolished.

The property is owned by Quang/Jewel Vuong. It is being designed by JWA Architects of Seattle.

Sleepy lady dozes off hits parked vehicle, flips her car on Delridge Way SW

Seattle Fire emergency responders came to the scene of flipped car in the 5000 block of Delridge Way SW, shortly after 8am. According to SFD personnel an adult female coming home from a work shift at an area hospital dozed off, and swayed into a parked van's left rear corner. The impact flipped her sedan on to its roof. It also shoved the van into the back of a small Toyota SUV smashing out it's rear window and doing other damage. 

The woman had to be extricated from the vehicle but was unhurt, according to the EMT's.

National reaches Majors final

South Highline National came all the way back through the loser's bracket after an opening loss to earn the right to play West Seattle for the District 7 Major Little League baseball all-star tournament championship.

National will meet the Westsiders at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Bar-S complex in West Seattle, needing to win that game to force a second and final game for the title and the state tournament berth that goes with it at 6 p.m. Friday.

National opened the tournament by taking a narrow 5-4 loss to Renton on Saturday, but bounced back to beat Seattle Central the next morning, 16-4.

South Highline was a 5-3 winner over Rainier District on Monday before downing PacWest, 4-3, Tuesday.

National went on to defeat Renton, 10-7, in Wednesday's loser's bracket final.

Renton had narrowly lost Tuesday's winner's bracket final to West Seattle, 2-1.

County watchdog announces report on Sheriff’s investigations of officer misconduct complaints, recommends changes

Today the King County Office of Law Enforcement Oversight (OLEO) released a report, Internal Investigations Complaint Classification Review of the King County Sheriff’s Office, at a briefing of the Metropolitan King County Council’s Law and Justice Committee. The report identifies concerns with the King County Sheriff’s Office’s internal investigations system and recommends related improvements to policy and practice.

Henning home run rescues West Seattle; Next game is Thursday at 6pm

After being stymied on the scoreboard for five and two-thirds innings by the Renton Little League baseball majors (11/12 age)  All-Star pitching and defense, West Seattle was down to its final out while facing a 1-0 deficit at the Bar-S Playfields in West Seattle on Tues. July 10. Westsider batter Matthew Henning faced a 2-2 count against flame throwing left hander Michael Holbrook.
