West Seattle softball state bound

Look out Othello, here we come.

West Seattle is bound for state action in the Eastern Washington city after winning the District 7 age 8-10 Little League all-star softball championship Tuesday.

West Seattle emerged as a 7-6 winner over Seattle Central in the finale played at the Rainier Beach complex, capping off a 4-0 tournament record.

The Westsiders also met Seattle Central Saturday and won, 6-4, on their way to the District 7 title game.

Now they go on to Othello, where they will open state play with a 9 a.m. game Sunday, July 14.

West Seattle plays the winner of the of the game the day before between District 10 and District 6.

PacWest wins 8-10 Little League crown

PacWest prevailed in a pitching duel, 2-1, Tuesday to wrest away the District 7 age 8-10 all-star Little League baseball title from West Seattle.

The championship pays off in a trip to Poulsbo for state tournament play at Snider Park.

PacWest, of Burien and SeaTac, opens with a 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20 game against the District 6 champion.

PacWest cruised through the District 7 tournament played at Normandy Park with a 4-0 record, including two wins over defending champion West Seattle.

PacWest also met West Seattle in Sunday's winner's bracket final and squeezed out a 5-4 victory to advance to championship play.

West Seattle would have needed to have beaten PacWest twice in championship action to win the title.

KING 5 Evening will feature Panterelli Patisserie

KING 5 Television's Evening Magazine paid a visit to Panterelli Patisserie in the West Seattle Junction on July 3 as part of a segment on French influence in the Seattle area, just in time for the Olympics.

Whisky West hit again by thieves

One more time it seems, Whisky West in the Morgan Junction proved to be too attractive a target for thieves.

At 4:57am two men wearing face coverings popped a lock and gained entry, Incredibly they were driving a U-Haul truck.  They didn't get money but they did score "A bunch of booze." according to restaurant management.

Security footage was gathered and the police have been notified and supplied with evidence.

El Gran Taco is a Mexican sports bar in the making

Food truck operators took that success to a location in White Center

El Gran Taco is the new Mexican restaurant in White Center at 10230 16th SW in the former Chemos location. Their Grand Opening was June 28.

Owners and brothers Fernando and Eduardo Salgado were already successful with four food trucks that serve all over the Seattle area, but a physical location was always a dream. Now it is a reality.

The location in White Center seats 73 people and on all the walls large screens will feature soccer, football, UFC and many other sports.

Go Fund Me page launched to support family of young man shot on Alki

The young man who was shot to death on June 22 on Alki was Luis Angel Solis Lara aka “Wichin”

Now a GoFundMe page has been set up to help support his family and cover his funeral expenses. They've set a $7000 goal.

 "Wichin" (nickname) was a young man of 22 years, very cheerful, hardworking, respectful, a good son, and a good brother. Always brightening the day of whoever was close to him, giving us a smile, he was a happy person despite the adversities that he had had to live through since he was a child. He never lost his joy in life. 

Unfortunately, on June 22nd, he and his cousin were at Alki Beach when suddenly a group of bad men started shooting them mercilessly.

SAKA: Public Safety legislative measures and action items detailed
