GETTING THERE: SPF 30 transportation and access details offer many options
Sub Pop Records 30th Anniversary celebration on Aug. 10 & 11 will mean finding transportation alternatives to see the show
Thu, 08/09/2018
SPF30: Sub Pop’s 30th Anniversary Concert, is happening this Saturday, August 11th, 2018 from noon-10 pm. With road closures and limited access it's going to mean taking transportation alternatives to join the thousands expected on Alki Beach on Aug. 11.
The lineup features Beach House, Bully, Clipping, Kyle Craft, Father John Misty, Fastbacks, Hot Snakes, Jo Passed, Loma, LVL UP, METZ, Moaning, Mudhoney, Shabazz Palaces, Wolf Parade, Caspar Babypants, The Not-Its!, and The School of Rock West Seattle House Band over four stages along incredibly scenic Alki Ave. in the Alki Beach neighborhood of West Seattle.
You are urged NOT to drive anywhere in the vicinity for a variety of reasons.
Here are the best alternatives
BUSES
King County Metro Transit has increased frequency for the Route 50 (Alki Service) to operate every 15 minutes.
In addition, the RapidRide C-Line has a couple of extra buses to assist with any overloaded buses, primarily while event-goers leave the Alki Beach area.
WATER TAXI
The King County Water Taxi between downtown Seattle and West Seattle is adding an extra boat with extra runs and extending hours of service.
In addition to the MV Doc Maynard running its regular Saturday service, the Water Taxi plans on running an extra boat (the MV Sally Fox) on the West Seattle route from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 7:30 p.m. 11:30 p.m. These times are when we expect most people to be traveling to, and returning from, the event.
We strongly encourage you to purchase your Water Taxi tickets in advance or use your ORCA card.
The Water Taxi accepts several forms of payment including ORCA cards, mobile tickets (Transit GO Ticket app), credit cards at the ticket machines on the dock (riders are encouraged to buy their return tickets on the way there) and cash on the boat using exact fare. Visit the Water Taxi’s website for more fare information. Riders should plan ahead for potential crowding on each sailing and travel early to make sure they arrive on time for the event.
And you can catch the Water Taxi back to downtown Seattle later that night. Simply return to Seacrest Park by 11 p.m., to be in time for the last boat of the night.
Fans also can ride transit to the beach party via Metro’s Route 50 from the Othello light rail station or from the Alaska Junction. On Saturday, Route 50 buses will operate every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to midnight.
Fans can also ride the RapidRide C Line between South Lake Union, downtown and West Seattle to connect with Route 50 or with the SPF30 private shuttle at the Alaska Junction.
SHUTTLES
Three free shuttles will run within West Seattle throughout SPF30.

1. SW Alaska St. & 44th Ave. SW at the Metro stop
2. SW Admiral Way and SW Waite St.

BIKES & BIKE SHARES

There will also be bike shares at some strategic locations as well as staged throughout West Seattle. Look for bikes at these locations.

4. Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal
5. Spokane St. Park and Ride
6. Water Taxi
PARKING
If you must drive, please carpool, designate a driver and know that we will have a parking lot. The parking fee will be $20. Credit/debit cards and cash are acceptable forms of payment.
Location is the 2500 block of Harbor Ave SW across from the 7-11.
From this lot you can either walk to Don Armeni Boat Ramp (a distance of almost a mile) to catch a free shuttle (Arriving and departing roughly every 20 minutes), or rent a bike and ride the Alki Trail to the festival.
The parking lot closes at midnight on the day of the festival (Sat., Aug. 11). Unclaimed vehicles will be towed by noon the next day. Please no Rideshare vehicles.
ACCESSIBLE PARKING
We have accessible parking spots reserved exclusively for patrons with disabilities in two locations. We ask that you display your placard/hangtags when parking. Please note these spots will be available on a first come, first serve basis. There will be
1. On 63rd Ave SW between Admiral Way and Alki Ave SW
2. On Alki Ave SW between 54th Ave SW and 56th Ave SW
Accessible parking hang tags/placard will get you through local access street closures to these parking spots.
LYFT/UBER
Uber and Lyft will be managing the road closures for the festival in app. It will be best to catch a ride to and from the shuttle stops at the Alaska Junction and Admiral Neighborhood
There will be Lyft signage up at the Lyft Pickup/Drop-off zones.
ROAD CLOSURES
Alki Ave SW will be closed between 56th Ave SW and 63rd Ave SW.
59th Ave SW will be closed from SW Stevens St. to Alki Ave SW.
There will be a local-access-only closure on Harbor Ave SW at California Way SW. Traffic will be turned back down Harbor Ave SW or diverted up California Way SW.
There will be lots of other local-access-only closures from SW Admiral Way down to Alki Ave SW, as well as a local-access-only closure at Bonair SW and Sunset Ave SW.
There will be festival staff and SPD helping to direct traffic at all of these closures.

It is our hope that SPF30 and Sub Pop’s 30th Anniversary Weekend will serve as a super fun and sincere “thank you” to our local and global music community for supporting Sub Pop and our artists for the past 30 years (and the next 30!).
In addition to celebrating a dynamic, inspirational roster spanning three decades, we also wish to create a sense of uplifting togetherness where we not only listen to great music but we become better at listening to each other as well.
Alki Beach comfort stations and fire pits will be closed Aug. 11
Comfort stations at Alki Beach, as well as the comfort station at Alki Playground (home of the popular whale tale), will be closed all day on Saturday, Aug. 11. Numerous portable restrooms will be available at both locations. Additionally, all fire pits will remain locked at Alki Beach on Aug. 11 and will reopen after 4 p.m. on Aug. 12. Fires outside of these pits are prohibited.
Is 63rd between Alki and Admiral disabled parking only? Can those who live on 63rd park there?
