The Lancers took a loss in Saturday's battle for the West Central District's No. 6 and No. 8 berths to state.
Cross country
State 1A girls
Sage Gibson of Seattle Christian took 10th place in Saturday's race at the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco, where all of the state cross country action took place, posting a time of 19 minutes, 24.8 seconds.
Teammate Rachelle Mayes came in 64th in 21:10.7 and Katherine Anderson of the Warriors placed 87th in 21:35.1.
State 2A girls
Highline's Jessica Bedolla-Mendoza took 96th in a time of 21:37.0 with Vesenia Bedolla-Mendoza 102nd in 21:49.5.
Nancy Jimenez of Foster was 128th in 22:41.0 and Highline's Makenna Cowan 130th in 22:47.5.
State 3A girls
Gabrielle Rackner of West Seattle came in 114th in Saturday's action in a time of 20:46.9.
State 4A girls
Kennedy Catholic's Lily Grassley snagged 76th place Saturday in a time of 20:00.3 and teammate Marissa Tweedy took 133rd in 21:02.7.
State 1B/2B boys
Michael Olson of Seattle Lutheran finished 119th on Saturday with a time of 19:34.3.
State 4A boys
Mount Rainier's Erik Harang placed 104th in 17:06.4 on Saturday and Lincoln Marino of Kennedy Catholic came in 106th in 17:07.2.
Girls swimming
West Central District 2A
Highline captured fifth place as a team at Saturday's meet held at Hazen High School with 129 points.
The Pirates placed second in the opening 200-yard medley relay in 2:01.01 and had Emily Zacharias come in third in the 200 individual medley in 2:16.94 with teammate Araceli Felix sixth in 2:22.25.
Stella Fosberg was 11th for Highline in the 50 free in 27.10 and teammate Naomi Williams was 13th in 27.36.
Fosberg took third in diving with 273.40 points with Chloe Watson fifth for the Pirates with 258.40 and Marianna Cate seventh with 214.50.
Highline finished fourth in the 200 free relay in 1:48.32 and Williams was 10th in the 100 backstroke in 1:09.31.
Zacharias captured third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.09 with Felix fifth in 1:14.84.
Highline was 11th in the 400 free relay in 4:17.63.
West Central District 4A
Mount Rainier snagged seventh place as a team at Saturday's meet with 159 points and Kennedy Catholic came in eighth with 137.
The Rams took ninth in the opening 200 medley relay in 1:57.85 ahead of JFK's 2:04.79.
Delaney Fulton of Mount Rainier took 12th in the 200 free in 2:11.37 and JFK's Jaqueline Southwell finished 15th in 2:14.03.
Rachel Beal of the Rams then sped to a second place finish in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.64 and Shayla Markle of Kennedy was third in 2:15.01. Reagan Marek of the Rams was 13th in 2:27.27.
Maddie Terry of the Lancers scored 292.05 points for fifth place in diving, just ahead of Mount Rainier's Allison Shimp at 283.65 and JFK's Madeline Kemp at 277.85. Shirley Bronte of the Lancers took 12th with 261.25.
Markle secured second in the 100 butterfly in 59.78 and Marek was 14th in 1:08.51.
Alicia Reiff was 12th in the 100 free in 59.55 and Southwell 10th in the 500 free in 5:51.60 ahead of Fulton's 5:51.79.
Kennedy was seventh in the 200 free relay in 1:49.41 with Mount Rainier eighth in 1:50.49.
Beal took third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.82 and Reiff was seventh in 1:04.51.
Madelline Kalenius of Kennedy came in seventh in the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.49 and teammate Alexandra Wilhite was 16th in 1:19.42.
Mount Rainier snagged sixth in the 400 free relay in 3:56.31 with Kennedy 10th in 4:04.85.
